Dr. Julie Kim is a Board-Certified Internist with over 25 years of experience, known not only for her medical expertise, but also for her compassionate and deeply personal approach to care. Since 2013, she has served as the Medical Director of the Brain Treatment Centers in Newport Beach, San Diego, and at Braincare Performance Center-Cardiff since 2022, where she has helped transform the lives of thousands through MeRT® (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy).
As the most experienced MeRT clinician in the world, Dr. Kim has personally treated over 6,000 patients at the flagship center in Newport Beach. She also trains physicians globally in this cutting-edge therapy, blending science with empathy to bring hope to individuals and families facing complex neurological and mental health challenges.
Dr. Kim’s journey into medicine began with a passion for healing and human connection. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Kent State University and earned her medical degree through a rigorous 6-year combined program with Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital in Illinois and is a proud Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
Before specializing in brain health, Dr. Kim spent 14 years in primary care, where she built meaningful, long-term relationships with her patients. That same dedication carries into her work today, as she helps patients optimize brain function without medication—in a way that’s non-invasive, personalized, and often life-changing.
At the Brain Treatment Center, Dr. Kim has become a pioneer in the treatment of autism, PTSD, traumatic brain injury, stroke, depression, and more. Her ability to explain how brainwave patterns affect emotions, thinking, and behavior helps patients and their loved ones feel seen, understood, and empowered.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Kim is a devoted mother and active community member. She and her daughter volunteer with the National Charity League, and she proudly supports OC Ukraine, a nonprofit co-founded by her high school son to aid Ukrainian refugee families.
Dr. Kim’s work is guided by heart, hope, and a belief in each person’s ability to heal and thrive.
